A few songs...
Charlotte Church has one of the most beautiful voices I've had the pleasure of hearing. On Thursday, I went to Beaver Island with my good friend Barb, her daughter, my Princess, and my sister, Eleasaid. While in the car, Barb put on one of Chalotte Church's albums that I own as well, " Voice of an Angel ". There are two songs in particular that touch my soul and bring tears to my eyes. Both songs are Traiditional, but I love Miss Church's renditions. One of the songs, " Suo-Gan " is done in Welsh, but I'm going to post the english words so you might enjoy what the song means... Enjoy!
My Lagan Love
Where Lagan Stream sing Lullaby
There blows a Lily Fair;
The Twilight Gleam is in her eye,
The Night is on her Hair.
And, like a Lovesick Lenanshee,
She hath my Heart in Thrall;
Nor life I owe, nor Liberty,
For Love is Lord of all.
And often when the Beetles Horn
Hath Lulled the eve to Sleep,
I steal unto her Sheiling Lorn
And Thro' the Dooring Peep.
There on the Crickets Singing Stone
She spares the Bog Wood Fire.
And hums in sad Sweet Undertone
The song of Heart's Desire.
Suo-Gan
To my Lullaby Surrender,
Warm and Tender is my Breast;
Mother's arms with Love Caressing
Lay their Blessing on your Rest;
Nothing shall Tonight Alarm you,
None Shall Harm you, have no fear;
Lie Contented, calmly slumber
On your Mother's Breast, my Dear.
Here Tonight I tightly Hold you
And enfold you While you Sleep;
Why, I wonder, are you smiling,
Smiling in your Slumber Deep?
Are the Angels on you Smiling
And Beguilling you with Charm,
While you also Smile, my blossom,
In my Bosom Soft and Warm?
Have no Fear now, leaves are Knocking,
Gently Knocking at our Door;
Have no Fear now, Waves are Beating,
Gently Beating on the Shore.
Sleep my Darling, None shall Harm you
Nor alarm you, Never Cry,
In my Bosom Sweetly Smiling
And Beguilling those on High.
