Let Loose the Gods of Midland!!!
My Day as a God...
Saturday morning I woke up to a massive migraine and only 3 hours of restless sleep... yeah...NOT a happy camper. The sky opened up as Mellie called me in complete chaos begging me for good news... luckily...the rain had just stopped at my house, meaning it was going to stop eventually at the park. Then, my dad calls... mom dosen't wanna take Emania overnight because she's still sick, but they'll take her for the day. So...I was bummed... there went my chance to hang out with friends and have a decent meal. But, at least she was gonna be out of our hair for a few hours. Nate left at 9:30 with Fox to help get things set up, while I waited here with Tim ( ASSHOLE ) and Nadine ( Nice, but loud and never knows when to shut up ). I couldn't eat because my head was pounding so hard I was getting nauseas... but thankfully, when Fox came back to pick us up an hour later, Nadine had Ibufrofen in her purse ( Insert angels singing ). The Ibufrofen helped stall the migraine while I played the best role of my life...
I arrived at the site with 20 different people asking me questions and needing my help. Nate wanted me to post the signs up all over the park... all over the 20 acre park... with the game starting in an hour... me with no make up on yet... with no idea of the trails due to the new site... and with said people pulling me in every direction... UGH. Finally...I gave up. Told Nate... you do it... and went to help Mellie.
Ben and Vashar couldn't make it to the event... so I was left with no elemental gaurdian... GREAT!!! UNTIL.... I saw Frank. Frank is veteran of Midland...and a hella nice guy...and wanted to NPC for the day. Not only that...guess what costume he brought with him? A FIRE ELEMENTAL COSTUME!!! Gods bless him!!! Talk about getting lucky. So, Frank, Mellie, Andy and I set off to find my " temple ", and found ourseleves quickly wading through an invasion of the Boyscouts of America...FUCK!!!!! Not only were they swarming, they were snotty, rotten, spoiled little brats who threatened to throw crab apples at Frank...which at that point... Frank whipped out his latex sword and promptly wahpped a kid in the stomach...that shut em up...hehehe. So... we had a problem... the park let the Boyscouts take over 90% of the park without telling us...thus ruining all of our " sites ". Not only that, they didn't leave us out firewood, they didn't clean the pavillion, the foreplace, NOTHING. I want our money back...fuckers.
So, we RUN back to our site to find Nate and Eric... tell them, along with the NPC's our problem, and QUICKLY improvise by using what land we did have to ourselves. Eric, after finding out they threatened Frank, wanted to grab random 12 year old boyscouts, and throw them in the pond filled with quicksand. Mel and I QUICKLY stopped him after seeing him heading in the direction of the invasion, and got him to calm down. We quickly found my " temple ", told Andy what he needed to do as the ranger, and I told Frank my ideas for a comedic elemental... which... Frank pulled off SUPERBLY!!! Anyways, Frank, Andy, and I set up our gear, and went back to the " town " to witness the opening ritual. The opening ritual was what released the Beast...a rather evil God all about death, destruction, evil, ect... who made the fatal move in the ritual to release him? Why Lance of course... ( Insert giggles ). Lance is the creator of our Midland game and the normal Game Master. So, what better practical joke then to set him up to release an imprisoned God? Buawhaahahaha. So, the bad guys consisted of Benji as the Beast, Dave as the Summoner ( Another evil baddy ), and their minions of demons, lizard men, wraiths, goblins, undead, ect... they all did a FANTASTIC job. But, they were no match for me, as the Elemental, Drake the Fire Elemental ( Frank ), and the Mother ( Goddess of healing ), along with our beloved PC's.
The Elemental is a uber powerful diety. It is neither male nor female, representing the balance within nature. The Elemental cares little for mortal affairs, except when it affects the balance and its loyal followers. The Elemental would willingly give up Its existence to protect one of its followers. The Elemental's arch nemisis is of course, the Beast. The Beast wants to destroy everything, including the creations of the Elemental. So, think of sibling rivalry with a divine twist. The summoner was also imprisoned with the Beast after deciding He was the creator of everything... which of course pissed off all the other dieties, especially the Elemental. So, our two bad guys, were faced with a diety who woke up to a migraine...not a pretty picture.
Benji, Dave, and I had loads of fun insulting each other, and at the end of the game, I sacrificed my " being on the mortal plane " to stop the Summoner from ruining the PC's attempt to call the Sage ( The Sage is the only God who knows how to imprison or Release the Beast and Summoner ). By sacrificing myself for the " trivial mortals "< I then took the summoner with me... Neener neener neener. Yep, I was a hero. But the day was wonderful... People kissing my ass, Frank bringing comedy to the celestial Gods, watching the PC's in awe as Frank and I wooped some major monster ass. Nathan, my darling husband, got his butt whipped several times, by Mui. He played a follower of the Beast who everyone was beginning to fear by his powers... until I spotted him. I thought, " This is for all the times you forgot to take the garbage out..."...at which point Drake set him on fire...and then I melted the flesh off his bones with a spell I evented called " Solar Flare ". Hehehehe. Its good to be a God. So aside from my Solar Flares, Lightning Strikes, Sacred Moonlight, and Meteor storm, I also made the Beast and his followers fall down mid battle with an Earthquake, and even rescued some mortals by causing trees to grow where the bad guys stood, thus knocking them down and out for the count....buawahahaha. On the nicer side, I gave a few mortals a couple " gifts " like invisibility to demons and wraiths, elemental weapon which hits for 3 points, and even gave Lance Elemental Arrow so he could shoot for 3 points. So yeah, the PC's liked me... hehehehe. Ahhh...the blessed power trip...ROFL.
Everyone had an awesome time... and it looks like we're going to get a " Yes " vote on continuing the story line. The story Line? What happened after the ritual to bring back the Sage? Did it work? Who's side is the Sage on? What happened to the Elemental and the Summoner? Will the Summoner return, and with Him bring back an enemy he dosen't want to meet with again ( Being Me )? Even Lance is voting yes...which is saying alot. I'm so glad he and the other veterans enjoyed themselves... it was well worth it. I hope I get to NPC my favorite Midland God again ( and my PC's patron diety ). I hope if I do Frank NPC's with me again... we made an awesome team. Mad props to Mellie and Eric on the plot line, the plot packets, and Nate's role as NPC leader. I can't wait to see what happens next... Lance said he never thought bringing the Gods back would work.... but leave it to the newbies ( us ) to pull it off and make it freakin awesome!!! If anyone out there loves LARP'ing... you should DEFINATELY check out " Adventures in Midland ". Its a great group of people, and I'm glad to call them my new family of fun. Without them, I couldn't be a geek for a day once a month, and escape my troubled life IRL. Thank you Anu for giving me something I can look forward to... looking forward to being a kid again...
