Like the Graceful Dolphin, I shall Dive into the Chaotic Oceans!
Pagan Pride Day in Rochester ( As posted in my LJ )
So, we went to Pagan Pride Day in Rochester yesterday, and we had a
BLAST!!! It was so much fun, and I can honestly say, it did Nate and I
alot of good. We both feel as if our spirits have been healed, and our
energy renewed. The people there were so friendly and upbeat, it was
good to be around people of like minds and spirituality. The only
downside we found was one of the guest speakers... Raven Grimosse. We
found him to be a selfish, uppity, asshole. Dude showed up in a limo to
look important, and had security with at all times... really bad
security. It seemed as though he was afriad of being beaten to death by
savage wiccans with crystal wands. So boo on him. But... other than
that...it was great.
There
were TONS of venders there, with local shops from the area. You could
find nearly everything your magical heart desired. I even had a great
tarot reading done by a really nice guy who was fantastic. He knew
everything about what had happened this last summer, how it was
affecting my family and I, and had some really great news. It was nice
to hear of good things to come, and he told me my grandma is helping me
from the otherside. Aside from the tarot reading, we did alot of
shopping...hehehehe. For once, we had money...LOL. We bought Emania a
hand made drum, a Faery box with " faery dust " and a star crystal
inside, a t-shirt that says " Witchling " on it...LOL. Nate and I
bought a new incense burner on a chain that was only $6 ( GREAT DEAL ),
a new Celtic Throw thats purple, I bought a new journal thats leather
with a Celtic Trinity Knot on the front, a couple of Candles with a "
Winter Ice " scent, and a couple of Pagan Pride Day t-shirts for
ourselves. THEN... there was the raffle. We put in $10 worth of tickets
for the raffle to benefit victims of Katrina and Rita. Nate and I won
two of the raffles... Emania now has a " Pixie Hat " thats adorable,
and we won a basket of goodies from a shop called " The Flying
Broomstick "... the basket is filled with incense, candles, a book, a
couple of vials of oils, a tealight holder, and a couple of oil
droppers. OH...and an incense holder. So we came home with LOTS of
goodies.
Nate watched Emania while I went to one of the
workshops held by John and Lilee Allee on an Introduction to Satanism,
the Left Hand Path, and Labels and Lies in the Media. It was AWESOME. I
thoroughly enjoyed what they had to say, and it was more of a
discussion than just listening like zombies. I felt a little
embarrassed when Lilee said she agreed with everything I had to say.
Made me feel kinda good. She wants me to keep in contact with her and
John, and I am joining their religious tolerance organization. The
organization is about educating people through the media and seminars
about the truth about various paths. Lilee was very excited to hear
that I was a Celtic Reconstructionist that was NOT offiliated with OBOD
or the ADF. She agreed with me, as did the other wiccans ( LOL ) that
the ADF is nothing more than wiccans in Druidic clothing. Because of
this, Nate and I have a new title..." The Real Druids "... Anu help us
=)). Anyways, I have to email John and Lilee this afternoon, AND I have
been asked by High Priestess Madeleine McPherson from the Sanctuary of
the Crescent Moon to email her asap as well. I didn't get a chance to
talk to her before we left, but Nate talked to her durring the Closing
Ritual ( I was still at the workshop ) and she told Nate she wants to
talk to me, and that is was great to meet " real druids " ( At which
point Nate told her he was uncomfortable with the term ) instead of
Isaac Bonehead. Apparently, most of the people last year didn't really
enjoy his workshops at all and saw him for the fony he is. So, I have a
feeling Anu is pushing me to do what the Gods have asked of me... to
talk to people. Because of this, Nate and I have signed up to do
workshops at next years event. After signing up, people told us we HAVE
to speak and do these workshops. They REALLY like what we've had to say
so far, so hopfully, people will enjoy our workshops... Gods...what
have I gotten myself into?? LOL.
( So you know... Nate will be
talking about the Warrior Traditions through the ages in reference to
spirituality, and I will be doing a workshop on the Celtic Metaphysics,
the Duil, and Celtic Reconstruction. )
We met someone REALLY
cool by the name of Angie. Angie invited us over to her table for
homemade beef stew and fresh italian bread. She was REALLY cool. We hit
it off right away. Her hospitatlity was to be praised. Emania loved
her, and Angie has given Emania a new nickname, " The Great Princess ".
Angie also does spiritual drumming, and has invited us to her home for
bonfires and drumming. They have a huge drum circle of people who love
to drum and sing. Angie took down our emails and before we left she
promised to email me this weekend so we can stay in touch. Nate was
also invited a sweat lodge by someone we've named " The Naked Indian ".
Ok...he wasn't actually naked... he was walking around in a loin cloth
and a vest. He was REALLY cool. So...it looks like Nate are finally
getting in contact with the pagan community in this area ( Thank the
Gods ). I need more wiccans in my life...LMAO...they are sooooooooo
much fun.
So... wish me luck guys... looks like I'm finally doing what everyone told me I was born to do... Speak.

and thanks to the staff at the Rochester Pagan Pride Day Festival. They
did an awesome job, the park was beautiful, the staff was friendly, and
we truly felt welcomed there. We look forward to next years event!!!
Kudos also to the christian protestors who were kind enough not to be
rude, and stayed within the " Free Speech " area in the parking lot...
hehehehe.
